His mom can say whatever she wants -- but she has no decision making powers over you.

So if your parents want you to move to Georgia -- then you are moving.

If your boyfriend and his mother try to interfer, then they could be arrested.

If I were them, I would stop interferring with your parents and their decisions regarding you.

I don't know how old your boyfriend is, but if you have had sex with him and he is a lot older than you are -- he could be arrested for raping you -- since you cannot consent to sex at your age -- even if you agreed to the sex voluntarily. Therefore, if I were his mother, I would definately shut up and be quiet. He could end up a registered sex offender and in prison. Your boyfriend and his mother are asking for trouble if they interfer with your parents. I hope that you print out my answer and give my answer to his mother. I hope that is scares her. She needs to recognize that she should not be involved with this matter.

If your parents are truly evil, then you need to contact CPS. However, you need to recognize how horrible being in foster care is in the State of Texas. They will NOT put you in the house with your boyfriend and his mother. You will go to a a group house or a stranger's home with a bunch of the kids. I find that most teen-age girls do not enjoy foster care and they eventually beg to be returned to their parent's custody. Unfortunately, once in CPS custody the odds of being returned to their parents custody is remote and the legal fees that your parents will incur are thousands of dollars. So before you consider contacting CPS and making claims about your parents you need to think about living in a group home perhaps hundreds of miles away from Houston -- don't think of it is a romantic retreat -- think of it as a living hell where big, mean girls will beat you up for being a spoiled girl that had an intact family until she was 15. Also, some girls gets raped in foster care & you don't get any privacy & you don't get anything but the bare minimum of food & clothes required by the State.

I know that is not what you wanted to hear. I hear Georgia is nice.

Lastly, you are NOT old enough to emanicpate either - it is called "removal of disabilities" in the State of Texas and you can read about it in the Texas Family Code which is available on-line.

The good news is that the moment you turn 18 (in the State of Texas) you are an adult and you can leave your parents home. I don't know Georgia law -- so once you move to Georgia feel free to post this question and find out what the State of Georgia considers an adult -- it could be 17 -- I don't know.

Facebook Android app update requires Froyo, tweaks messaging and picture taking

Just an FYI, the folks over at Facebook have shoved another update to their app for Android out the door today. While version 1.9.7 won't add any new apps to your launcher, it does require some new permissions (phone status), require Android 2.2 and up, and offers some changes for the messaging and integrated camera experience. The camera app supports front-mounted shooter, while messaging improves switching between conversations, including friends of friends, sharing bigger photos and seeing who is available. There's also various bug fixes, faster app login and navigation plus an unspecified security improvement, so even if your social media experience doesn't include duckfaced self-pics and staying up on the latest gossip, it may be worth grabbing sooner rather than later.

First Same-sex Buddhist Wedding To Be Staged in Taiwan

Two women plan to tie the knot next month in Taiwan's first same-sex Buddhist wedding. This comes at a time when gay and lesbian groups are pushing to make the island the first society in Asia to legalise gay marriage.

Fish Huang and her partner You Ya-ting, both 30, will receive their blessings from Master Shih Chao-hui at a Buddhist monastery in north Taiwan's Taoyuan county on August 11.

"We decided to get married last year," Huang told AFP Wednesday. "After being together for six years, we feel we need to make a life-long commitment to each other."

As a group of Buddhist monks and nuns chant sutras, the couple, both wearing white gowns, will declare their love for each other in a ceremony expected to be witnessed by dozens of close friends.

Huang, a social worker at a Buddhist cultural foundation, said her mother had promised to attend the event but her father remained undecided.

"My father likes Ya-ting, and he says the marriage will make him feel like he has one more daughter," Huang said.

"Still, time and again, he has voiced his hope that I marry a man... In fact, my decision to marry Ya-ting is also meant to make him drop the thought."

Taiwan is one of the most culturally liberal societies in East Asia, and gay and lesbian groups have been urging the government for years to make same-sex marriage legal.

In an event aimed at creating awareness about the issue, about 80 lesbian couples tied the knot in August last year in Taiwan's biggest same-sex wedding party, attracting about 1,000 friends, relatives and curious onlookers.

The island's cabinet in 2003 drafted a controversial bill to legalise same-sex marriages and allow homosexual couples to adopt children.

However, President Ma Ying-jeou has said public consensus was needed before the government can move ahead with the law.

Betaworks Acquires Digg For A Reported $500K

Betaworks, the company behind bit.ly, news.me, Chartbeat and a number of other successful products, has acquired the social news site Digg.com for an undisclosed amount (rumor has it that the price was just $500k). Betaworks' founder John Borthwick will become the new CEO of Digg. The site's current CEO Matt Williams will join Andreessen Horowitz as Entrepreneur in Residence after the Betaworks transition is complete. Digg's founder Kevin Rose joined Google a few months ago after the search engine acquired his latest startup Milk.
